New Rutgers Tefillin Club – (l-r) Joe Kammerman, Ilya Kraminsky, Rob Premselaar, and Michael Schaier/
What started out as a once-a-week hour to get interested students to do something significant for our troops defending Israel’s safety blossomed into the Daily Tefillin Club. Every morning before or in between classes, students drop by Chabad House to perform the mitzvah of Tefillin. “Not being in Israel to help defend our country and it’s people is very frustrating for a college student, especially when we realize that those soldiers in the IDF are our age,” stated Chabad’s Minyan Director Michael Schaier, a Rutgers Junior from Fair Lawn, NJ. “This club gives us the opportunity to give our arms for Israel – knowing that we can participate in the mitzvah of protecting Israel while so far away by doing something that brings blessings to Israel – the wrapping of Tefillin.”
