The Chabad of Holmdel has successfully concluded its first-ever “Winter Camp for Teens” program this Dec. 28-Jan. 1, 2010. The teen boys enjoyed a full week of programs and activities that featured trips to New York City, skiing in the Catskill Mountains and a wide array of hands-on educational programs.
The teenagers experienced daily activities including Ice Skating, Skiing and a most exciting tour of Crown Heights, New York. The Crown Heights trip took the participants through a visit to the Matzah Bakery, the world-renowned Jewish Children’s Museum, and lunch in Glatt Kosher Brooklyn Deli.
The campers had a session where they learnt how to make Charity boxes from a master carpenter. Each student brought home a beautiful olive-wood charity box which they have designed and hand-crafted.
For many of these students this is a unique opportunity to really explore and discover their Judaism and learn more about their Jewish roots, as during the rest of the year they attend Public schools.
The parent body raved at the amount and scope of the activities. Based on this camping experience, the number of future attendees is expected to double.
